Artrain USA is a unique art museum on rails. It brings art exhibitions and programs directly to communities that have limited access to museums or collections. Artrain USA has five cars: three gallery cars, a studio car and an end car. The nation’s railroads donate the services of equipment and crews.

Their current national-touring exhibition is “Native Views: Influences of Modern Culture.” The exhibition explores the ways Native American artists are influenced by popular culture.

“Native Views” displays more than 70 contemporary artworks by 54 living Native American artists. Among the artists are Kay Walkingstick (Cherokee), Steven Yazzie (Navajo), Nadema Agard (Lakota-Cherokee-Powhatan) and Michigan artist S. Kay Young (descendant of Eastern Band Cherokee).

By viewing these works, visitors will come to understand some of the misconceptions about Native people, be introduced to the many commonalities Native and non-Native people share and consider the complexity of American culture.
