Neighbors help neighbors with 32nd annual Christmas program

DSC0303

For the last 32 years, volunteers in Chicago's Bridgeport community collect food and gift donations for holiday baskets. They also engage in grassroots organizing, getting people to sign petitions and speak out for affordable energy and other economic and social justice issues.

The Christmas program is done in association with Affordable Power to the People, Bridgeport Volunteers, Workers Education Society and Unity Center, where peoplesworld.org has its editorial office.

The rest of the year these Bridgeport volunteers help run a neighborhood LIHEAP program, which assists families with their heating, cooling and utility bills.
