KATY, Texas — Convicted corporate criminal Ken Lay, former CEO of Enron and close friend of President Bush, requested that his name be removed from a YMCA facility in a posh suburb of west Houston. The executive board of the YMCA of Greater Houston granted his request and renamed the facility the Katy Family YMCA. Lay was convicted of multiple counts of fraud and conspiracy in connection with the failure of the gigantic energy corporation on May 25.

Although the name change has not been ratified by the YMCA board of directors, the Katy facility is wasting no time and has already started using the new name. They have ordered a new stone marker to go outside the $5.7 million facility.

Lay also resigned his position as a board member of the YMCA’s foundation. He paid at least $1 million for naming rights to the Katy YMCA six years ago.
