La Paz, Apr 21 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Evo Morales is expected to travel to New York on Tuesday to attend Earth Day celebrations by the United Nations General Assembly, government sources has confirmed.

According to sources, Morales will leave La Paz Tuesday afternoon after meeting businessmen from the Bollore French Company interested in Littium exploitation in the Salar Uyuni reserves.
Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca told the press Monday that Morales´ invitation to New York responds to his firm position in defense of the environment and Mother Land (Pachamama in native language).

The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day on April 22. The tradition was founded by US Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year.

It is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.
