Tegucigalpa, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) The Popular Resistance Front of Honduras continues demonstrating for the sixth consecutive day against the military coup and for the return of President Manuel Zelaya.

‘We will fearlessly continue until the legitimate president returns,’ Deputy Marvin Ponce, from the Democratic Unification Party, told Prensa Latina during a rally held Thursday in this capital.

Ismael Salinas, general secretary of the United Federation of Workers, stressed that peaceful resistance forces are readying to give Zelaya a massive welcoming on his return to the country this weekend.

The statesman was kidnapped at daybreak Sunday by hooded soldiers and moved to Costa Rica, where he denied coupists’ versions of his alleged abdication.

Zelaya told demonstrators in a message of encouragement Thursday that he will return to the country when a deadline given by the Organization of American States to the de facto government to abandon its stance expires this weekend.

OAS general secretary Jose Miguel Insulza expects to visit Tegucigalpa today, to advise the de facto government of the OAS’ position that, like the United Nations, repudiates the coup.

The Front, created some hours after the coup began, is comprised of union, rural, student, young, community, human rights, and women’s organizations, among others.
