Organizers in Los Angeles are preparing for a massive march and rally on the March 19 global day of protest. Marchers will gather at 12 noon at Hollywood and Vine. Thousands of people should be there. A contingent from the Southern California CPUSA is planned.

Speakers will include Ron Kovic of “Born on the 4th of July” fame, Maria Elena Durazo of UNITE HERE Local 11, Mimi Kennedy of “Dharma and Greg” and many more.

Weeklong protests will be held at various campuses throughout Southern California leading up to the March 19 event.

In San Francisco, a Labor Speak-Out Against the War in Iraq, at 10:30 a.m. in front of Mission High School, 18th and Dolores, is co-sponsored by six area central labor councils, U.S. Labor Against the War, Bay Area Labor Committee for Peace & Justice, and other labor organizations.

Bay Area United for Peace and Justice will gather at 10:30 a.m. at 18th and Dolores. Participants are asked to wear black.

Northern California Communist Party and YCL marchers will also meet at 10:30 a.m. at 18th and Dolores.

At 12 noon, demonstrators will march to the Civic Center for a rally, “No to War and Occupation, Bring the Troops Home Now!” starting at 1 p.m.
