MovieREVIEW Take a broader look Kekexili: Mountain Patrol

Take a broader look at your world by going into the mountains with a ragtag patrol of Tibetan park rangers. Climb to a plain four miles high where the oxygen barely exists, the mountains threaten to crush you with their grotesque beauty, the very earth betrays, and the night stars drip down into you.

Take a broader look at your fellow human beings by packing a rifle with the bravest and strongest men, who dare to challenge this moonscape place with insufficient supplies, virtually no pay, and vehicles that sink into the icy mire when they function at all. Marvel at how devoted men can be to one another. Be amazed at a people’s love for their own habitat and all the creatures in it.

During the 1990s, local Tibetans formed a mountain patrol to try to stop fur poachers from destroying tens of thousands of Tibetan antelope. Before the Chinese government stepped in, they faced an impossible task. Face it with them, and face their incredible world as they know it, in this excellent film!

“Kekexili” is the winner of Golden Horse Awards for Best Picture and Best Cinematography.
