People’s World needs your help to keep publishing

Election 2020 has turned out to be a massive people’s victory. Whether he accepts it or not yet, come Inauguration Day, Donald Trump will be packing his bags and leaving the White House.

The extreme right tried everything—sabotaging the U.S. Postal Service, purging Black voters from the rolls, mobilizing white supremacists, and more—to stop us from making our voice heard.

Throughout the election, this paper said that the biggest possible turnout was needed to defeat Trump and block his attempts to steal the election. As it turns out, that’s exactly what it took.

Now, after a historic working class electoral uprising dealt a crushing loss for Trump, the GOP is still at it—using the courts to try to overturn the verdict of 75 million voters.

So, the fight goes on. The labor and democratic movements have some big tasks on their hands: Protecting the results of the vote and carrying the fight back to Georgia to take the U.S. Senate out of GOP hands in January.

We came through it together and still have a long way to go, but your paper—People’s World—is asking for your help.

The Trump administration’s total mismanagement of the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the entire country. Almost a quarter million people have been killed and tens of millions left jobless.

This is a publication that depends on working class support to stay alive, so whenever the working class is suffering, People’s World suffers, too.

The truth is… People’s World’s finances have been severely impacted by the economic depression. The income which sustains the paper and keeps it going has fallen off a cliff.

People’s World needs your support to keep publishing.

With COVID-19 continuing to wreak havoc for working people, the fight is about to heat up again to demand the restoration of the $600 unemployment benefit, get frontline workers the PPE they need, help our struggling cities and states, make schools safe for kids, and create jobs.

This is no time for the people’s movements to be without People’s World.

During 2020, People’s World has broken all its previous records for readership and engagement. The paper published no less than 800 articles directly related to the elections and substantially grew its base of core readers, blowing past 3 million readers for the year.

PW also hosted two town hall forums, on on the unemployment crisis and another focused on voter turnout, that reached thousands of people. And in recent weeks, the paper launched a new podcast, Beyond the Page.

In just the final days before the vote, some 50,000 people turned to PW for the latest news and analysis. That proves People’s World is a necessity for the democratic, labor, and people’s movements.

But the paper desperately needs an influx of new donors and sustainers to make sure this voice for socialism in the United States can survive.

Please give whatever you can. If possible, enlist to become a monthly sustainer at $5, $25, $50, or $100.

Lenin said that “a newspaper is not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, it is also a collective organizer.”

The readers, supporters, and writers of People’s World have put all our efforts into fulfilling this mission for the past 95 years, and we can’t stop now.

Help save People’s World. Donate or become a sustainer today.
