The AFL-CIO is mobilizing its unions to line up the 60 Senate votes needed to halt a planned Republican filibuster against the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA).
The EFCA, which requires companies to recognize a union as soon as a majority of its employees sign union cards, passed the House 241-185. Democrats control the Senate by only a two-vote margin (51-49), so preventing a filibuster could be difficult.
Labor’s push in the weeks ahead includes meetings with senators, delegations to senators’ home offices and a week of action on college campuses from March 31 to April 4.
Call your senators today at their local offices or via the congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask them to vote yes on the EFCA.
