CHICAGO – Five Chicago-based movies are part of this year’s Black Harvest Film Festival scheduled here Aug. 7-19 at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Of the 18 features and six shorts, all but one will be Chicago premieres.
“This year will be the best because we have a larger number of features than past festivals,” said Marty Ruben, associate director of programming, citing films from Kenya, South Africa and Burkina Faso.
The Film Center, named for the late movie critic who for many years bantered with Roger Ebert on “Siskel & Ebert,” has been sponsoring the Black Harvest Festival for 10 years. It is located at 164 N. State Street. Call (312) 846-2800 for tickets, festival passes and membership, or log on to www.siskelfilmcenter.org.
