Celebrating Latino Heritage Month

October 18, 2008 5:57 AM CDT
Celebrating Latino Heritage Month

A Dominican woman wears a costume and mask representing the mischievous “Diablos Cojuelos” (Lame Demons), a character portrayed during the February carnivals in the Dominican Republic. Dominicans coming to the United States have brought this cultural custom with them. In this picture the “Diablos Cojuelos” participates in a festival which is part of that town’s effort every year to celebrate Latino Heritage Month.
