Tegucigalpa, Sep 8 (Prensa Latina) The calling for a constituent assembly to change Honduras is one of the resistance” main tasks, leaders of the movement told Prensa Latina.
The meeting held on September 6 with representatives from the whole country decided that “this assembly is the main task,” Juan Barahona, general coordinator of the National Front against the coup d’Etat, stated.
One of the documents approved by delegates stress the Front has assumed the commitment for the creation of a national constituent, popular, participative, inclusive, and democratic assembly.
That alliance emerged some few hours after the June 28 military coup, and among initial demands were the drawing up of a Constitution, the restoration of constitutional order, and the restitution of ousted constitutional President Manuel Zelaya.
“The national constituent assembly will be held with Zelaya or not, this is a right and wish of the Honduran people to change our society,” Barahona said.
