Edward Field was born in 1924 in Brooklyn and published his work in numerous magazines. Field has won a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Shelley Memorial Award, the Prix de Rome, Lambda Literary Award, Bill Whitehead Lifetime Achievement Award, and the W. H. Auden Award.
