Helen Keller

Helen Keller (1880-1986) is known as the first deaf-blind person to earn a university degree, but her record of achievement goes even further. An accomplished author, activist, and lecturer, Keller was one of the most prominent early 20th century fighters for women’s suffrage, a crusader for the rights of labor, a relentless opponent of war, and an advocate for socialism. She was a member of the Socialist Party of America and the Industrial Workers of the World.
