Liam O’Flaherty

Liam O'Flaherty (1896-1984) was an Irish novelist and short story writer and a major figure in the Irish literary renaissance. He served in World War I as a member of the Irish Guards in the British Army and was later a founding member of the Communist Party of Ireland. He sometimes wrote for the Daily Worker, a predecessor of People's World, in the early 1920s.
