Although 81 million people showed up to the polls to rebuke Trump’s fascist administration from the White House, it is clear much work lies ahead for progress in the new year. As the tumultuous 2020 draws to a close, working people are faced with a new political terrain they must make sense of in the midst of an ongoing global pandemic and financial crisis. What is to be done?

In this episode, we speak with People’s World writer John Bachtell about the need to form a fusion movement in the United States, what that means, and who it should include. Bachtell dives deeper into his three-part article series exploring challenges facing the multi-racial labor-people’s democratic coalition that was instrumental in ousting Trump.

In the second half of our episode, we speak with PW editor Mark Gruenberg on the obstacles workers still face on the job and the role of organized labor in the upcoming year. Gruenberg expounds more on his recent articles “Two corporate cover-ups: Amazon on coronavirus data, Uber on sexual assault,” and “Virus deaths, joblessness soar as Senate’s ruling Republicans dither.”
